DW Free camping just 20 minutes south of Cairns. We spent a while at this spot, and the one previous post ‘Free camping at Gordonvale, near Cairns’ just doesn’t show how great this spot was. Beautiful spot, just be wary of crocodiles and rain as this area can flash flood.

We have stayed here for a few days and could stay for many more. Beautiful scene, river beside us and safe swimming holes. Take a look at the HRD photo of the Mulgrave River at dawn.
There is no camping except for caravan parks, within 15kms of Cooktown. With some local knowledge we headed to Annon Gorge and found a spot on top of a hill on the other side of the river from the main access point (tour groups showed up there everyday).
About 60km from Cooktown just past Lakeland, a secluded off-road in-a-ditch style camp.
The world’s oldest rainforest. We have the privilege of camping in this amazing place. First night stayed at Noah’s Beach camp ground and then found a secluded off-road spot where we could stay for two nights, near Cow Bay.
Yesterday dropped a friend at Mareeba after staying another night at Granite Gorge. Met the boys outside of Cairns and proceeded to Wonga Beach. Via some local knowledge at the lot in Wonga Beach, we dropped in to Port Douglas, caught the ferry to Cape Tribulation and are now camping at Noah’s Beach, in the Daintree Rainforest.
If you need a panel beater in Cairns then go see Jim at Jim’s Panel’s – 102 Kenny St. Cash only but he is a top bloke and does a top job, not really listed anywhere I could find.

No more massive drives… Travelled from Townsville to Jourama Falls camp this morning. Large grounds to drive in and camp on a large site.
